Grissom Computer Laboratory
Laboratory Director: Professor Colm A. O'Cinneide
Location: Grissom Hall (Rooms 120, 121, 124, 220, B1)
- Purpose:
- To provide open access to workstation-quality
computing for undergraduate and graduate students, and to
provide scheduled access for classes. This is the primary
computing facility for all IE students.
- Courses Supported:
- Grissom 121 is used heavily in IE
231 for scheduled lab sessions. It is also scheduled
occasionally by other classes, for example IE 474. The
combined Grissom 120-121 facility is restricted to
undergraduate use, and is open 24 hours per day to
maximize access. It is especially important in the
following courses: IE 330, 386, 486 (statistical packages);
IE 343, 383, 484 (spreadsheets); IE 335, 474
(optimization, symobolic math); and IE 470 (CAD).
Grissom 124 and 220 form the graduate portion of the lab,
and both rooms are open to graduate students at all times.
They are used by students in a broad range of graduate
courses: IE 536, 566, 590D, 676 (queueing software); IE
580, 581, and 640 (simulation); IE 501, 535, 538, 579
and 636 (optimization); and IE 583 and 590M (facility
layout).
- Research Projects Supported:
- While students who are
supported on research projects are free to use these
facilities for their research, these facilities do not directly
support specific projects.
