Epilog
As a closing statement on this 30-year history and as a preface to the
future, it is apparent that strong foundation for the programs in
Industrial Engineering were established many years ago. It is also
apparent that the program has grown in stature and reputation through the
support and many outstanding faculty members. The establishment of the
National Research Center on Intelligent Manufacturing Systems, with James
Solberg as director, clearly attests to the School's growing strength in
research.
The school has been fortunate as well in attracting outstanding
undergraduate and graduate students, many of whom have compiled enviable
reputations in industry, education, service enterprises, and government.
Students, staff, and graduates have every right to be proud of Purdue's
School of Industrial Engineering.
